Finding Balance: When Superheroes Need to Take a Break

I want to take it off

This superhero costume

Let me walk in gossamer kissed with the scent of rose and vanilla

Pause this big, beautiful brain

So I can rest

Restoratively

Not have to project manage you, you and you

Because you can’t or won’t.

It doesn’t matter which one

Because I want to be held

Just existing laughing about something silly and arguing about various facts and the interpreation therein

Not to be a CEO and demanded to perform on command

Not to be your therapist, your mother, your COO, your private dancer, your cook, your maid, your time keeper, your VP of Finance, your RN, your constant reminder of do this, this and this

Because you can’t or won’t

It doesn’t matter which one

Because my cape is off

I’m laying on a cloud

loved gently

watered, fed and supported by tendrils of care
