Shadows

Let me walk around your darkness

While I tan in the glow of your smile

The thoughts behind your eyes when you spread me on display

and stare so intensely, I leak for you

I lounge in your light

as your laughter sparkles across the sheets

but I crave your murkiness

your intrusive thoughts at 2:11 am

am I invading your synapses with recollections of the last time and the time before and the time before that?

I covet your depravity

While I gleam in the luminosity of all your frustrations, disappointments, and anger you’ve left

inside

I desire the shadows of your open book

wrestling with the ideas you won’t speak illuminated by my unspoken consent

to drown me in the shade of you

released to the radiance of us

balanced by the twilight dusk of the unknown
